Aldo Piacenza was on view at the Hyde Park Art Center November 12, 1971 – December 18, 1971. The exhibition was curated by Roger Brown, M.F.A. Art Institute of Chicago.
Aldo Piacenza was born in Sant’Anna Telago, Italy in 1888. He moved to Chicago in 1903 with friends in search of opportunities beyond working in agriculture which he found prevalent in Italy. Piacenza eventually opened a restaurant, from which he retired in 1952. Upon retirement, he took to painting, creating birdhouses, and other decorative objects. In his exhibition at the Art Center, Piacenza showed his narrative paintings. The work contained biblical tales, stories from American history, and classical myths.
