Front & Center 2017: Center Program Final Exhibition

Front & Center is the culminating show from our Professional Development offering, Center Program, offering the unique opportunity over six months for artists to evolve their practice. The program includes feedback from guest artists, gallerists, critics, and professionals in the field, the opportunity to connect with a peer network, and ultimately produce strong new work to show.

This year’s exhibition, guest curated by Caroline Picard, Executive Director and Head Curator of The Green Lantern Press and Co-Director of Sector 2337, features work by 25 artists across a variety of media. “It’s been a real pleasure meeting with students from the Center Program and seeing their work develop over the last several weeks,” says Picard. “The combined energy of this diverse group of artists reflects themes that have emerged organically in our discussions together.”

About Caroline Picard

Caroline Picard is an artist, writer, publisher, and curator who explores the figure in relation to systems of power through on-going investigations of inter-species borders, how the human relates to its environment and what possibilities might emerge from upturning an anthropocentric world view. Her writing has appeared in publications like ArtForum (critics picks), Flash Art International, Hyperallergic, Paper Monument, THE SEEN, and e-flux’s live blog. In 2014 she was the Curatorial Fellow at La Box, ENSA in France, and became a member of the SYNAPSE International Curators’ Network of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin in 2015. She is the Executive Director and Head Curator of The Green Lantern Press—a nonprofit publishing house and art producer in operation since 2005—and Co-Director of Sector 2337, a hybrid artspace/bar/bookstore in Chicago.
