My installation “Eight Doorways” at The Maverick apartment building in downtown Burien Washington is almost complete. It will be up until March 31st. and the best time to go see it is in the evening, the lights turn on around 6pm.
Would be wonderful to see you on March 4th.
Beginning the 2nd month of a three month site specific evolving installation at The Maverick in downtown Burien, Washington. I’m usually there on Mondays working in the space adding to the piece with paper cut outs and sculpture. A reception has been planned for March 4th at 1:30pm at the space on the corner of 150th St. and 6th ave SW in Burien.
A work in progress, each week until the middle of March I will add to the site specific installation at The Maverick in downtown Burien, WA, drawings, paper cuts, and sculptures will all mix together to transform the space. Hope to have a reception in March so stay tuned…
Made this installation for “Illuminated Orphans” show last night in Seattle, it was inspired by my mom who has passed 19 years ago.
She asked me once to make her a dress for my dad’s company picnic, I made her a long colorful dress from African fabrics.
My dad was embarrassed but she loved it and wore it to the event, there all the African ladies grouped around her and asked who made it.
She seemed to be happy to say it was her son.
52 years, I miss her so very much, I try to keep her close to me with the good memories we had together.
