Eric J. Garcia

Working between painting, sculpture and installation, Eric creates nuanced understandings of historical events and their relationship to the present. His work takes numerous forms but is united by the common goal of educating and challenging both the maker and the spectator. While at the Art Center, Eric plans to take advantage of the time and space the residency offers in reflecting and evaluating his current body of work and to critically examine the direction of his practice.

Garcia graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2009 with a Master’s in Fine Arts with emphasis in Painting and Drawing. He has since then participated in a number of residencies across the U.S. and featured in both group and solo shows throughout Chicago.
