Assaf Evron (b.1977, Tel Aviv) creates interdisciplinary work in photography, installation, sound, and sculpture to address the human experience of culturally-specific architecture and landscape as a way of making tangible the intangible history of knowledge and aesthetics. He received an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has exhibited his work at Hyde Park Art Center and internationally. Evron first exhibited his work in A Study in Midwestern Appropriation curated by Michelle Grabner at Hyde Park Art Center in 2013. Since then, he has been a valued artist in the Art Center community through his participation in the Jackman Goldwasser Residency Program and the biennial exhibition of emergent talent in Chicago titled Ground Floor, among other exhibitions.

SaraNoa Mark (b. 1991, New York) pursues a drawing practice that reflects a desire to delicately evidence the constant and invisible activity of time. She has exhibited her works on paper, clay sculptures, and found object installations mostly in Chicago and Philadelphia. Relocating to Chicago in 2015 after completing her undergraduate art degree at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Mark has been enrolled in the Oakman Clinton School and Studio program at Hyde Park Art Center ever since. She is currently an artist-in-residence at the Art Center.

Sarah Nishiura (b. 1974, Detroit) uses traditional techniques to craft one-of-a-kind quilts from her own designs. She learned to sew from her mother and learned to love geometry from her father. From her grandparents, who were great builders, painters, stitchers, weavers and gardeners, she learned that making things is one of the greatest imperatives, privileges and pleasures in life. Nishiura’s quilts are all pieced from 100% cotton recycled and vintage materials, backed with new yardage, and then hand quilted. It can take up to 4 months to complete a quilt, but the result is strong, durable, and suitable for warmth or display. Nishiura earned a MFA in painting from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and a BA from Brown University.

Sonja Thomsen’s (b.1978, Milwaukee) multifaceted practice uses light in image, object and architecture, to claim the peripheral as the locus of attention. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Studio Art from Kenyon College and a MFA in photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. Thomsen has exhibited with the Bauhaus Archiv in Berlin, Center for Photography at Woodstock, DePaul Art Museum Chicago, Gallery f5,6 in Munich, Higher Pictures in New York, John Michael Kohler Art Center in Sheboygan, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, New Mexico Museum of Art in Santa Fe, the Reykjavik Museum of Photography, and Soccer Club Club Chicago among others. Thomsen’s work resides in the collections of The Art Institute of Chicago, Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University, DePaul University Art Museum, Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection, Museum of Contemporary Photography Chicago, Milwaukee Art Museum, and the Reykjavik Museum of Photography. She is currently Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Selina Trepp (b.1973, Swiss/American) is an artist researching economy and improvisation. She works across media, combining performance, installation, painting, and sculpture to create intricate setups that result in photos, drawings and animations. In addition to the studio-based work, Selina is active in the experimental music scene. In this context, she sings and plays the videolah, her midi controlled video synthesizer, to create projected animations in real-time as visual music. She performs with a varying cast of collaborators and as one half of Spectralina, her long running audiovisual collaboration with Dan Bitney.
